The material you need, the band we can hold
Published so you can check a drawing against reality before you send it. Standard and precision columns show what is repeatable in production, not what is possible once.
What we keep in stock, and what we source per order
The grades below are the ones we run regularly. Anything else is possible — the question is lead time, not capability.
| Family | Grades | Typical parts | Usual finish |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aluminium | 6061-T6, 6082, 7075-T6, 2024, 5052 | Housings, brackets, heat sinks, structural parts | Anodise, bead blast, powder coat |
| Stainless steel | 303, 304, 316L, 17-4PH, 440C | Medical instruments, food equipment, shafts | Passivate, electropolish, bead blast |
| Carbon steel | 1045, 4140, S355, 20# | Shafts, plates, weldments, fixtures | Zn plate, black oxide, paint |
| Tool steel | SKD11, H13, DC53 | Dies, moulds, wear parts | Hardening to HRC 58–62 |
| Brass & copper | C3604, C2680, C1100 | Connectors, terminals, busbars | Ni plate, tin plate, passivate |
| Titanium | Grade 2, Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) | Aerospace-adjacent, medical, marine | Anodise, bead blast |
| Zinc & magnesium | ZA-3, AZ91D | Die-cast housings, frames | Powder coat, e-coat |
| Engineering plastics | POM, PEEK, PTFE, PC, PA66-GF30, ABS | Insulators, bushings, covers | As-machined, annealed |
Material certificates (EN 10204 3.1) are issued with every order as standard. If you need 3.2 with a third-party witness, add two weeks and tell us at RFQ stage.
Two columns, no small print
“Standard” is what we hold without special discussion. “Precision” is what we quote deliberately, after checking the fixture and the inspection method.
| Feature | Standard | Precision | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| General linear | ±0.10 mm | ±0.05 mm | ISO 2768-m unless stated |
| Precision linear | ±0.02 mm | ±0.005 mm | Requires CMM verification |
| Holes / bores | H7–H9 | H6 on request | Reamed or bored, not drilled |
| Flatness | 0.02 mm / 100 mm | 0.008 mm over 400 mm | Thin walls need stress relief |
| Parallelism / squareness | 0.02 mm | 0.01 mm | Single set-up preferred |
| Surface roughness | Ra 1.6 µm | Ra 0.4 µm | Ra 0.2 with polishing |
| Concentricity | 0.02 mm | 0.008 mm | Mill-turn for best result |
| Threads | Metric & UNC/UNF | NPT, BSP, custom | Go / no-go gauges |
Three things that decide whether your quote is expensive
1. Wall thickness. Anything under 1 mm on aluminium will move during machining. If the part needs it, expect a stress-relief step and a longer schedule.
2. Tolerance on a non-functional feature. A ±0.01 mm call-out on a cosmetic edge doubles inspection time without changing the fit. Mark critical features and leave the rest general.
3. Finishing ambiguity. “Anodised” without a thickness or class is the most common cause of a first-article rejection. Say Type II or Type III, and give the colour reference.

Send the drawing, we will flag the expensive features
